Nations Day | 游遍全球 不如把世界装进心中
多元包容的学习者社区

We are very excited to introduce our first GIPSB nations day!  This day is focused all around the theme of diversity, and helping our learning community to be open-minded and satisfying their curiosity about others’ cultures.

我们非常兴奋地向您介绍中黄外小第一个民族日!当日,围绕着多元化主题,我们帮助了学习社区成员以包容的态度,满足孩子们对多元文化的好奇心。

Leading up to our nations day, we ran a parent workshop on the theme of Learner Profile and international-mindedness.  This helped our parents to understand how we promote this in an IB school and how students can demonstrate their development of the learner profile, including being open-minded and caring, by appreciating their own cultures and the diversity of others.  We also ran a workshop for teachers, helping them to understand how we can promote appreciation of diversity through our learning activities at school.  

在“民族日”活动之前,我们举办了一场以学习者培养目标和国际情怀为主题的线上家长工作坊。这有助于学习社区中的家长们理解外小是如何培养孩子的国际情怀的。通过欣赏当地文化和其他文化,孩子如何展示胸襟开阔和关爱他人等学习培养目标的发展进程。

我们亦为教师举办工作坊,帮助教师理解如何通过校内学习活动,促进孩子对多元文化的欣赏。

 

On the day, the students chose to dress up, either in a traditional costume from one of the ethnic groups in China or to try out a costume from another country.  The students made a big effort to get involved and we saw lots of really interesting styles!  We also interviewed students, teachers and parents about their thoughts on culture and diversity, and had some thoughtful answers.

民族日当天,孩子们积极参与,身着不同民族服装闪亮登场。我们看到了风格迥异,各有特色的的服饰风格! 

部分学生、老师和家长接受了采访,分享了自己对多元文化的看法,很多回答非常具有启发性。

In our school canteen, the students had the opportunity to sample a range of food from other countries.  They were very excited to sample the delicious treats!

在餐厅,孩子们当日非常兴奋地品尝了不同地区的美食,尤其是美味的点心!

Our Spanish ECA club were special guests today!  During the afternoon session, they gave students a chance to experience Spanish and learn a few words and phrases to use.

我们的西班牙语俱乐部老师是今天的特别嘉宾!在下午的活动中,孩子们体验了西班牙文化,并学习一些日常用语。

Our Nations Day really kicked off in the afternoon, where we hosted lots of different activities representing different countries and regions. Students played traditional games of pot throwing, celebrated the Torch Festival, and performed bamboo, Uygur and Tibetan dances.  Students enjoyed Jamaican, Ceilidh (Scottish) and English maypole dancing, practicing their footwork, teamwork and listening to some cool beats.  They did a range of crafts, including making locks found in British canals and recognizing American symbols.  They learned how to make different delicious foods from around the world.  We finished off the afternoon with music; the younger students performed a catwalk show to some national music, and the older students sang the ‘hello’ song together and had a go at some traditional Russian dancing.  We also had a big group dance to the ‘cha-cha slide’ taking place on the fourth floor, with students having lots of fun following the dance moves.  All in all, the students had lots of fun whilst learning about different places and cultures.  We want to give a huge thanks to all the teachers and parent volunteers who came to participate in this activity, it is due to your efforts that this day was a huge success!

下午,我们的民族日趣味活动真正拉开帷幕:每个教室都有各自不同的活动:孩子们体验了传统投壶游戏,庆祝了火把节,跳了竹竿舞、维吾尔族舞和藏族舞蹈。孩子们喜欢牙买加、苏格兰和英国的五月柱舞:练习步法,团队合作,欣赏了不同民族的音乐。孩子们动手完成了一系列的工艺品,包括在英国运河中发现的船闸和识别美国的标志。孩子们还学会了如何制作来自世界各地不同的美味食物。我们以音乐结束了整个下午的活动;低年级小朋友伴着一些民族音乐表演了一场民族服装秀,高年级的孩子齐声合唱多语“你好”歌,并尝试了一些传统的俄罗斯舞蹈。我们还在四楼举办了一场迷你奥运会,同学们互相竞争,乐在其中。总之,学生们在学习各地文化的同时也玩得格外开心。
